We tore out the existing shower due to multiple issues. The previous installer did not correctly pre slope underneath the shower pan, seal between the sub drain and shower drain and punctured the shower pan below the dam height. This leak was slowly rotting the sub floor and staining the drywall in the kitchen below. The hardi-backer was put in wrong, along with leaving trash inside the mortar bed, trapped water which created a sewage-y smell every time the shower was used…just sayin..lol.
Shockingly there wasn’t enough structural backing and blocking in the walls which results in the inside corner crackage. We demo-ed down to the studs, did structural repair, proper pre slope and waterproofing techniques and we were able to save the door and reinstall it.
